This was not our first visit to Venice but we still contacted Nan to give us an overview "orientation" especially concentrating on the area where our apartment was. She met us the first afternoon we were there and pointed out attractions, showing us routes through Venice to various places like grocery stores, shops, etc.

Most helpful were her many restaurant suggestions. They were for small neighborhood places that we might never have found on our own. We went to many of these restaurants and bars she suggested and never had a bad meal. That alone was worth the price of Venice 101.

It was also great to be able to call on Nan when we had a question or even if we were totally lost. Your Friend in Venice is a great resource for the independent traveler who still wishes to have a local person to call on.

Thanks, Nan. We had a much richer month's experience in Venice because of you.

Nan is a trusted resource with services that will never let you down. She's so much fun and has a fantastic spirit. I've contacted Nan to help me on two different trips to Italy. The 2nd visit to Venice, my friend was seeing it for the first time and I wanted to make sure she got the Venice WOW treatment. Nan arranged for her favorite water taxi driver to meet us at the train station and drop us off at our hotel's door step! There's nothing more exciting when seeing Venice for the first time than to arrive this way. She also set us up with a favorite gondelier who met us at the restaurant where we were having dinner and took us through the loveliest canals away from the 'Gondola Tourist Train' - you'll know what I mean when you see it.

She has the best recs for food, wine, guides -- I still have a napkin where I asked Nan to write down her favorite meal in Burano. The Vap strike kept us from enjoying it but I've saved it for our next visit to Venice.

And...Someone gave me ger book "<a href="http://tinyurl.com/italyinstructions" rel="nofollow">Italy: Instructions for Use</a>" as a stocking stuffer for Christmas one year -- a great little guide to tuck in your pocket. Whenever a friend tells me they're going to Italy, I go to Amazon.com and send them a copy.

Buon viaggio!

We had not previously used an Intro Service, so were a little uncertain. But happily, we can heartily vouch for the Welcome Intro. It was all so quick and easy to organise, the guidance from airport to hotel made getting into town a breeze, followed by the Intro which really does deliver the goods.

Our group of 3 held diverse interests, and with only 3 days, every minute was precious. But this intro was the best bang for buck (and time spent) for orientation and detailed recommendations (and follow-up) to assist our short stay in Venice. We have recommended it to family & friends, and have no hesitation in doing so to the broader public. Well worth it, no doubt about it.

Not only does Nan possess a serious knowledge of Italian wines, she is an absolute delight. Our "Lessons of the Vine" session was one of the highlights of our recent trip to Venice.

Nan - love your pictures. I will let my class know your website address. I am sorry our pictures turned out to be such low resolution. I think the kids took a video shot and didn't put the camera back to a high resolution setting.

We'll be back.

This private introduction to one of Venice's top attractions was unquestionably a standout highlight of our visit. Our guide was knowledgeable, interesting, efficient and her English was terrific.

Lead by a friendly and knowledgable Italian Sommelier, Lessons of the Vine will take you to the next level whether you know a lot, or nothing at all, about Italian wines. So enjoyable and informative too; I had a wonderful time learning.

Venice is a must-see star in Italy’s panoply of attractions; whether you've been there many times (like me), or never before (like my brother), this on-site intro to the city, our host's knowledge of its more hidden delights, and ability to point us in the right direction for our individual interests (and we had a bunch) added so much the rest of our (too-short) stay.
